Ingredients
We believe wholesome baking begins with wholesome ingredients—simple, organic ingredients chosen with care.
The foundation of our bakery ingredients list is organic unbleached hard red winter wheat flour, purified water, and mineral sea salt. We avoid unnecessary additives, focusing instead on slow fermentation and the rich flavor that comes from handcrafted foods. Our ingredients list will never include any artificial dyes or seed oils, ever.
Across our kitchen, you’ll find ingredients we are proud to use: grass-fed butter, organic whole milk and yogurt, raw wildflower honey, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, organic herbs and spices, real vanilla beans steeped in vodka, non-alkalized cocoa, and aluminum-free baking soda and baking powder. Even our oils are selected intentionally, including expeller-pressed avocado oil and organic coconut oil.
Sweet & Sour Flour stands for thoughtfully crafted baked goods made from ingredients we would proudly serve at our own table.
About the baker
Hi, thanks for stopping by!
I’m Raina, a lifelong educator, homeschool mentor, and passionate sourdough baker based in Simpsonville, SC. Originally from Florida, and after spending many wonderful years in Maine, I’ve made the Upstate home while continuing the work I love most—serving others through education and nourishing food.
For more than 38 years, I’ve worked as a private Christian educator, led homeschooled cooperatives & educated my own three children. I now support homeschooling families in my community through tutoring. My love for baking grew naturally out of my passion for home and family life, where I make almost all of our food from scratch and value the simple joy of gathering around the table together.
Every loaf, pastry, and baked good is made with quality ingredients & traditional sourdough methods, being slowly & fully fermented for exceptional flavor, texture, and digestibility.
When I’m not teaching or baking, you can usually find me reading a good book, working on puzzles, playing pickleball, heading out to see a great movie, or enjoying a round of mini golf. My favorite course is The Oasis Ranch near Clemson over in Seneca... worth the drive from Simpsonville!
I believe the best things in life deserve time and should be shared generously. I’m grateful to bring that spirit into everything I make by sharing handcrafted baked goods made with care, patience, and purpose.
